Dr. Wolfgang Althof
Teresa M. Fischer Professor of Citizenship Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, is Director of CECH-the Citizenship Education Clearing House- and co-founder of UMSL’s Center for Character and Citizenship (CCC) located in the College of Education. Prior to joining UMSL, Dr. Althof was in the Department of Education, University of Fribourg, Switzerland, from 1984-2004. Since 1991, Dr. Althof's focus has been on moral/character development and citizenship education in school-wide programs and on their contribution to school and staff development. CECH’s programs include Kids Voting Missouri and MY LOGO (Missouri Youth Engaged in Local Government) formerly Local Government CECH-UP.
Sandy Diamond, M.Ed.
former Newspapers in Education (NIE) Coordinator for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, serves as the Director of Kids Voting Missouri. (314-516-6823). Sandy is the 2006 recipent of the Warren S. Solomon Civic Virtue Award. This award is given annually by the Missouri Bar to someone who promotes civic virtue to teachers and schools throughout Missouri. Likewise, Sandy and Kids Voting Missouri received the 2006 Barbara Ericksen Affiliate Excellence Award. This award is given annually to the Kids Voting USA executive director whose work demonstrates excellence in all facets of program implementation and who exemplifies the spirit of Kids Voting USA.
Citizenship Education Clearing House (CECH)
through the College of Education at the University of Missouri-St. Louis houses Kids Voting Missouri and directs the program in the St. Louis area, central Missouri, Northwest Missouri, Southeast Missouri, and Soutwest Missouri areas.
