Doubleclick Democracy! For Election 2012, Kids Voting Missouri will continue to "go green" and use Kids Voting USA's special on-line ballot. Students will get to vote for many of the same candidates and issues as the adult voters. To access ballots, schools will enter unique unlock & school codes; there will also be different ballots styles for K-3, 4-5, and 6-12.

Early Voting...Furthermore, Kids Voting Missouri will again allow early voting.  Participating schools/districts will be allowed to begin voting before the actual Election Day on Tuesday, November 6, 2012.  This is done to ensure that students have access to their computer labs for voting and also to accomodate those schools closed on Election Day.

Does Kids Voting really work?

1.    According to a 2010 Kids Voting USA survey to parents:

--86% of respondents indicated that their children’s enthusiasm for voting was increased through participation in the Kids Voting program.

--98% of respondents would recommend use of the Kids Voting program by their children’s schools in future elections.

--32% of respondents acknowledged being better educated voters as a result of their children’s participation in the program.

2.    According to a 2010 Kids Voting USA survey to teachers:

--58.5% of teacher respondents used the Kids Voting curriculum for the 2010 election.

--When asked if Kids Voting increased students’ enthusiasm for voting, 85% thought that the program was effective.

--95% will continue to use the program in the future and 92% would recommend the program to other teachers.

3.    The lastest research from the Civic Mission of Schools demonstrates that the more students participate in a simulated activity like registering to vote and voting, the more likely they are to actually register and vote when they turn 18. (http://www.civicmissionofschools.org/)

4.    In a 2004 report from CIRCLE (Center for Information & Research on Civic Engagement), Missouri ranked 9th in the country on the percent of 18-24 year olds that registered and voted. In the 2004 study, 5 of the top 9 states were Kids Voting USA states. (www.civicyouth.org/prractioners/state_ranks2004.htm)

5.    And in CIRCLE's 2006 report, Missouri was again ahead of the national average ranking 9th with 32% of its 18-29 year olds registering and voting. The national average for 18-29 year olds that resistered and voted was 25%. States that led the country in youth voter turnout were Minnesota, Wisconsin, and South Dakota--all Kids Voting USA states! (See www.civicyouth.org/ for more information.)
