CITIZENSHIP IN ACTION--BECOME A POLL WORKER!!!
St. Louis City, St. Louis County Board of Election Commissioners, St. Charles Election Director, & County Clerks in Jefferson, Franklin, and most Missouri counties are in need of election workers to staff their polling places for elections held throughout the year.
Requirements for a Paid Position: 18 Years & Older
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be a registered voter in Missouri
- Must be a registered voter in the county where working (depending on the county, they might accept you if just registered in Missouri)
- Must be available to work from about 4:45 a.m. to about 7:30 p.m.on Election Day
- Must go through paid training
High School Poll Worker Project-Missouri
NOTE: Some election authorities allow high school students to work the polls. If interested, please contact the election authority in the county where you live. (See info below on how to contact your election authority.)
Here is the criteria to be a high school poll worker.
- Must be 16 or 17 years of age
- Must be a full-time high school student
- Must take & subscribe to an oath, which shall be signed by the student
- Principal must agree to recommend the student and student must
- Demonstrate good academic & behavior record
- Be a person of good repute who can speak, read, and write the English language
- Not be related to any person whose name appears on the ballot
- Must go through training
- Must be available to work on Election Day (hours determined by County Election Clerks)
- Optional: Participation can count toward community service hours and/or service learning activity

An alphabetical listing of Missouri county election authorities and County Clerks can be found on the Missouri Secretary of State's web page at www.sos.mo.gov/elections/countyclerks.asp
Simply call or email the Election Clerk or Election Authority in your county and let s/he know you would like to become a Poll Worker.
Local Election Authorities for ALL states, including Missouri can also be found on the National Secretary of States web page...go to www.nass.org and simply select Issues and then from the drop down box, select Elections & Voting...then select Election Official Directory.
